Flying Dragon: PL 10

Secret Identity: Gavin Wong

Appearance: Standing at six foot four, Gavin is the picture of health. His bald head is a lifestyle choice, in recognition of his time in the S.T.E.A.L.T.H. group. Most of the public however, wouldn't know, as he doesn't wear the typical grimness of special forces, instead beaming and smiling as he keeps himself surrounded by the world's future, his students.

- Doing Good (Motivation)
Having served with an elite team of assassins, Gavin has seen enough questionable orders and bloodshed to last a lifetime. He's now taken it upon himself to do some good with his skills and training.

- Responsibility (Students)
As a Physical Education teacher, and sports coach, Gavin sees his students as his primary responsibility. He doesn't miss a day of classes, unless the safety of his students is at risk.

- Secret (Questionable orders)
Gavin had taken part in a number of secret operations, which ended with unnecessary casualties. It is his hope that his association with the S.T.E.A.L.T.H. group is never discovered, and his role in the deaths of thousands never be revealed.

- Honor
Gavin has never backed away from an honorable challenge, and would never strike an unarmed opponent. This code of honor does not extend to those who have proven themselves without honor, and Gavin doesn't hesitate to use his training to overcome foes who leave themselves open.

  1. I like the build, but you could tune it a bit. Instant Up is unnecessary; since he has Skill Mastery: Acrobatics and Acro 12, he's practically never going to miss making a DC20 Acro roll to kip up out of Prone position as a Free Action, not to mention Prone Fighting essentially removes all of the negative effects of being prone anyway. That extra point would be used to cover removing the Acro Check for Leaping, since even without SM:Acro that roll would never fail, so it's not really a flaw.

The Affliction is very cool; kind of a super-Feint maneuver. It could be interesting to make it more martial-based by changing some of the resistances. For instance, one rank of Subtle makes the power detectable as a DC20 by anyone or limits it to an exotic sense. If you move a little outside the box conceptually, you could say that Assessment is a form of exotic sense that detects combat abilities, so you could make the power "visible" only to people with Assessment, meaning it could only be targeted for countering or Nullifying by them as well, which fits the concept surprisingly well. You could also give it an Alternate Resistance vs the Fighting ability instead of Will, although it would be a GM call whether that was a +0 or +1 modifier.

    1. Thanks for the heads up JD. I didn't really think about the lack of flaw in Leaping, I really took it right out of the Martial Arts Power Profile. But I'll fix it, probably as you suggest, by using the point from Instant Up.

As for the Affliction, I like your suggestion. I'll discuss it with Eric (our GM) and Kyle (our resident rules lawyer) and see if they're onside with the suggested changes
